An Argument for Increased Federal Funding of Embryonic Stem Cell Research

Due to opponents of embryonic stem cell research and a host of different court cases challenging federal funding, embryonic stem cell research has not advanced as quickly as scientists believe it should.  Opponents argue that using federal, taxpayer money to support the destruction of embryos is illegal, and consequently, federal funding for embryonic stem cell research in the past couple of years has been uncertain.  As a result, progress involving embryonic stem cells has stagnated and many researchers have left the field for more favorable research topics that are guaranteed federal funding.  A mandate increasing federal funding for embryonic stem cell research must be passed by the Obama administration in order to ensure the development of the incredible prospects that embryonic stem cells promise.

Double NASA's Budget to 1% of Federal Budget

NASA is more than just a space exploration agency. It is more than a federally funded science project. NASA is a galvanizing force of inspiration and innovation unlike anything else, and is extremely underfunded in comparison to the social and economic stimulus that it can bring into the world. NASA's current budget is less than 0.5% of the tax dollar, and should be increased to 1%. This increased budget will stimulate both the economy and the curiosity of the greatest minds on the planet, and lead to a brighter and more enlightened future.
